Santa Cruz County birding

Another great day of birding in Santa Cruz County…

Rio Rico Ponds:
A late WHITE-FACED IBIS and an AMERICAN PIPIT. The ‘big’ pond is full again.

Kino Springs:
MERLIN seen to chase and catch a small passerine, which it carried for a few seconds before the passerine escaped and flew away, apparently unharmed.
Also there, BLUE-WINGED TEAL and SORA.

San Rafael Valley:
Most notable was a calling SORA at the cattle pond near lone tree. They’re everywhere at the moment.
