The tour continued, from Hereford to Portal, via Whitewater Draw. 89 species in all.
Casa de San Pedro, Hereford:
A flyover NEOTROPIC CORMORANT was a surprise.
Other birders reported a pair of Ruddy Ground-Doves, but we only found several COMMON GROUND-DOVES.
Also, the continuing CANADA GOOSE, single WHITE-FACED IBIS, three GREATER YELLOWLEGS, two LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER, pair of GREAT HORNED OWLS, BELTED KINGFISHER, GRAY FLYCATCHER, and a migrant PLUMBEOUS VIREO.
GOLDEN EAGLE over SR 80 northeast of Douglas.
Rodrigues House, Portal:
An excellent range of birds at the feeders which included BAND-TAILED PIGEON, LAZULI BUNTING, and BULLOCK’S ORIOLE, with a fair-sized flock of VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS overhead. Thanks Bob!
Cave Creek Ranch, Portal:
After one a couple of days previously over the San Pedro, another surprise flyover COMMON BLACK-HAWK.
Also, INCA DOVE, six hummingbird species including a bright male RUFOUS and multiple BLUE-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS, and SUMMER TANAGER.
Portal: WESTERN SCREECH-OWL, ELF OWL and COMMON POORWILL heard after dark.
