A day of target birding and photography in the Tucson area, with a regular client who will turn 90 soon. We found 80 species. Great to see you again, Ken!

Agua Caliente Park:

Ken wanted to get a photo of a LUCY’S WARBLER, never an easy task, but we managed it eventually.

Rose Canyon, Mt Lemmon:

OLIVE WARBLER was our main target here, and we found a pair right by the road.

We also had good views of a BUFF-BREASTED FLYCATCHER near the Lizard Rock Group Area.

Other birds between the road and the group area included PLUMBEOUS and WARBLING VIREOS, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER, AMERICAN ROBIN, GRACE’S WARBLER, YELLOW-EYED JUNCO, and WESTERN TANAGER.

Incinerator Ridge Rd, Mt Lemmon:

Warblers are always a highlight at this location, and today we found OLIVE, VIRGINIA’S, ‘AUDUBON’S’ YELLOW-RUMPED, GRACE’S, TOWNSEND’S, and RED-FACED WARBLERS, plus PAINTED REDSTART. Also here, HAIRY WOODPECKER, PEREGRINE FALCON, GREATER PEWEE, PLUMBEOUS and HUTTON’S VIREOS, MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE, HERMIT THRUSH, and YELLOW-EYED JUNCO.

The feeders outside the realty office were being visited by MAGNIFICENT and BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRDS, PYGMY NUTHATCH, SPOTTED TOWHEE, YELLOW-EYED JUNCO, BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, and PINE SISKIN.
