Recommended Birding Accommodation

There are HUNDREDS of accommodation options in SE Arizona, from quiet B&Bs to high-end resorts to cheap motels (especially in Tucson, Green Valley, Nogales and Sierra Vista), as well as some first-rate birder-specific B&Bs that you’ll love. I can’t list them all, but some of my favorites appear below.

Please contact me for recommendations based on your preferred location and budget.

Santa Cruz County – Tubac and Tumacacori

  • Kubo Cabins (Madera Kubo B&B)
Fun accommodation in great birding habitat with popular bird feeders.
  • Chuparosa Inn
Classy lodge high in Madera Canyon, with hummingbirds, trogons, the lot.

Pima County – Green Valley

Pima County – In and Around Tucson

Charming, quiet courtyard setting close to downtown. Amazing food!
  • Arizona Inn (midtown Tucson)
Classic Tucson boutique hotel; quiet, classy, great gardens and fine dining.

For the more lively, it’s the genuine Tucson experience. Great food in the Cup Cafe.

Cochise County – Huachuca Mts (Sierra Vista/Hereford)

  • Battiste’s  Bed, Breakfast and Birds
A great birding B&B set in fabulous habitat in lower Miller Canyon. Superb wildlife photography setup. Highly recommended!
  • Ash Canyon B&B
Mary Jo’s amazing birding B&B, home to Lucifer Hummingbirds and a lot more. Highly recommended!
  • Ramsey Canyon Inn
Delightful B&B in a great location at the entrance to Ramsey Canyon Preserve. Watch hummingbirds a few feet away whilst enjoying an excellent breakfast!
  • Casa de San Pedro B&B
Stylish boutique B&B in Hereford with great birding at the feeders and nearby San Pedro River. Highly recommended!
  • Quality Inn
Well-priced chain hotel conveniently located in Sierra Vista.
  • NOT RECOMMENDED: Stay clear of Beatty’s Guest Ranch. This is not a birder-friendly business. The owners are volatile, disrespectful and more interested in hunting with a pack of dogs. The birding in Miller Canyon can be good, but you can get there without entering the Beatty’s property. The hummingbird feeders at Beatty’s aren’t what they used to be, and whatever species are present can usually be found up-canyon, away from their property. I highly recommend staying away and avoiding a potentially unpleasant experience.
