Black-crowned Night-Heron, Cooper’s Hawk

Whilst on my photothon last week I encountered a couple of birds that I couldn’t resist spending a few minutes photographing, even though I was supposed to be on a mission to get quantity of species, not quality. More about my photothon here.

Not that these photos are great. In both instances the lighting was in the wrong place, espcially for the completely backlit Cooper’s Hawk, but the close proximity certainly helped. The hawk was at Reid Park, the heron at Sweetwater Wetlands.
