A quick stop at Sam Lena Park was productive. The rubber-lined pond had 12 HOODED MERGANSERS (4 males), a SPOTTED SANDPIPER and another GREAT EGRET, while the concrete-lined pond hosted a COMMON MERGANSER and a small flock of BUFFLEHEADS. A GREATER ROADRUNNER was a big hit. […] There was an impressive number of sapsuckers around, which included what appeared to be the same RED-NAPED x RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER hybrid that was first reported by Alan Schmierer back in Oct 2010.
