Tonto Natural Bridge, Pine Trailhead

Tonto-Natural-Bridge-11-0415-04Birding was excellent. It was fun to watch WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS scream by at close range, some zooming up the face of the cliffs and alighting in nesting crevices, dropping back out and continuing their life on the wing. VIOLET-GREEN and CLIFF SWALLOWS joined the party. The surrounding habitat was even better, with PAINTED REDSTART, SCOTT’S ORIOLE and many more interesting birds. […]

Tubac, Payson

Gray-Hawk-Tubac-11-0414-05Along De Anza Trail we picked up some nice birds including easy-to-see GRAY HAWKS, one of which posed nicely, perched in a cottonwood.
