Sweetwater Wetlands, Santa Cruz Flats

Good early winter birding in the lowlands. 74 species in all.

Sweetwater Wetlands:
WESTERN GREBE on the easternmost recharge basin. Also, PLUMBEOUS VIREO, HERMIT THRUSH.

Santa Cruz Flats:
PECTORAL SANDPIPER with large flock of LEAST SANDPIPERS, KILLDEER and AMERICAN PIPITS at Evergreen Sod Farm, from the 2450 road north of Pretzer Rd.
Two CRESTED CARACARAS in the desert to the south of the traditional corral on Baumgartner Rd just west of Wheeler Rd.
FERRUGINOUS HAWK along Pretzer Rd between Picacho Highway and Sunshine Blvd.
BENDIRE’S THRASHER just northwest of the Pretzer Rd x Toltec Rd intersection.
Also, MERLIN, PRAIRIE FALCON, ROCK WREN.
