The afternoon was reserved for more top quality birding from comfortable chairs at two of our amazing feeder sites. August 28th, 2014 Tags: amado, arivaca, atascosa/pajarito, california gulch, favorites, guiding, rarities, rio rico, se az birding Most birders who have visited California Gulch in Santa Cruz county will be surprised to learn that I found an adult and three well-grown but still stripey-headed juvenile LEAST GREBES there today. Were they waddling along the gulch itself? Splashing in one of the puddles on the road? No, there’s a nice pond just down canyon from the dam. Today I led another tour for the Tucson Bird & Wildlife Festival, this time a fairly short morning trip to Catalina State Park. |
