I really love the SW Wings Birding Festival, both the main festival in August and the relatively new ‘Spring Fling’ field trips in May. I had the pleasure of leading a fun and enthusiastic group on today’s trip to Carr Canyon. We ended with an excellent list of 76 species. I was lucky enough to be invited to guide for the 2015 Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival, based in Harlingen. It was a superb festival and I thoroughly enjoyed leading field trips each day. When I heard I’d be leading two consecutive trips to Mt Lemmon for the Tucson Bird & Wildlife Festival, I was a little disappointed as I’d have preferred more variety. As it transpired, scorching temperatures in the lowlands meant that I was ultimately delighted to be taking the tour to high elevation with Scott Olmstead. |
