I’ve had two new yard birds in the last few days. A little unexpectedly, a HORNED LARK flew over, calling, on September 20th. Today, a more expected newcomer, a GREEN -TAILED TOWHEE was calling from down the slope. The latter was yard bird #97. […] I went out into the yard late this afternoon to enjoy the first monsoon rains, and found a couple of the more interesting creatures that I’m fortunate enough to share my yard with. I was watering some plants in my yard just as the sun went down, when I accidentally watered this little fella, a splendid REGAL HORNED LIZARD, colloquially known as Horny Toads. He didn’t seem too impressed! |
