We ended on 144 species, which was pretty good. Could we beat it this year? The weather forecast said no – it was going to be very windy, especially in the afternoon. Undeterred, we went for it anyway… A classic day of winter birding in SE Arizona, touring the Sulphur Springs Valley, with many memorable highlights. April 30th, 2015 Tags: big day, carr canyon, guiding, huachucas, las cienegas, patagonia, patagonia lake, paton center, se az birding, willcox David Chapman wanted to experience a SE Arizona ‘Big Day’, so we went for it! Starting and ending in Patagonia, and without night birding, we found an impressive 144 species in a frantic dash across SE Arizona. Somehow we managed to miss European Starling! |
